20 weeks! Congratulations, you have officially made it halfway through your pregnancy! Your baby is
now weighing between 10 to 12 ounces. They are also around 7 3/4 inches long from head to rear end and
about 10 inches from head to toe. That is about the size of a grapefruit. On 3D/4D ultrasound, the baby shows
some expressions such as smiling and frowning, but not as often as when they get farther along. Your baby is
swallowing the amniotic fluid more now and doing so is essential for the digestive system. The baby is also
pushing harder against the inside of the womb and as the muscles develop, you will be feeling distinct
movements more often. The 3D/4D ultrasound will show you more distinct gender parts each time you check.
The baby will now be playing with the toes more often and trying to pull the toes up toward the mouth. I have
noticed that babies start forming their habits at this point. Each baby I look at is doing their own thing in there.
I might have one baby who keeps their hands behind their head a lot. Another baby may suck their thumb the
entire time I am watching. It is always different. As you watch, your baby will amaze you as you see them
gently flatten their palm against the placenta that they need for nutrients. The sheer beauty of pregnancy is
evident on ultrasound at this point.
