Your baby is now 10 weeks along and that is ¼ of the way through your pregnancy! At 10 weeks, your baby
could now fit into your cupped hand! It weighs less than a quarter of an ounce and is a little over an inch long.
They have now completed the most important stage of its development. The next stage begins the forming
time known as the fetal period. Your baby will now have rapidly growing and maturing organs and tissue. They
are now starting to swallow the amniotic fluid and kicking quite a bit. Major organs, which include brain,
intestines, kidneys, and liver, are in place and starting to function, though they will continue to develop
throughout your pregnancy. There are now tiny fingernails and toenails forming as well as tiny hairs on the
body. Spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from the spinal cord and the baby’s head measures half the
length of the body right now. On ultrasound, you still cannot tell the gender. All babies at this stage still look
like girls. You can see more distinct shapes of the nose, lips, and chin. If you have a little bit of natural juice 30
minutes before your ultrasound sometimes it makes the baby move more!
